Should I bleach a yellow dress before dyeing it again?

Unfortunately, there was an ink pen left in the washer that no one noticed until AFTER I washed my adorable Juicy Couture dress, so now it has little red spots all over it! I've tried getting the spots out, but all they do is smear. I love this dress and I want to save it, so I'm thinking of dyeing it, but I've never dyed anything except for hair. Should I bleach it before? It's made of 100% modal, and I know plant fibers take dye really well. Please help!
